FORMER COLLEGIUM OF THE JESUITES IN YUROVICHI

The complex of the Jesuit Collegium in the village of Yurovichi was built in 1710–1746. on the site of a former wooden monastery of the second half of the 17th century.

The village of Yurovichi, Kalinkovichi district, is the oldest human settlement on the territory of Belarus, a settlement with a rich historical past. Paleolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic sites and settlements have been found here. Historical and archaeological monuments are the ancient Slavic settlements of Vidolichi and the annalistic Mezhimost (1170). The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the late Baroque style (consecrated in 1758) and the adjacent Jesuit Collegium (now an Orthodox male monastery) are considered to be a striking architectural monument.
